Asian American Community Leadership Circle Awards 2012
May 11th, 2012 - Texas Exes Asian Alumni Network
April 30 — The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DDCE), the Texas Exes Asian Alumni Network and the Center for Asian American Studies welcomed alumni and community members at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center at the 3rd Annual Asian American Community Leadership Awards Ceremony. Every year, these awards recognize outstanding individuals and organizations in Central Texas, and this year’s theme “Business Leaders Building Stronger Communities” honored Asian American business leaders who serve and advocate for Asian Texan communities.
This year’s Community Partnership Award went to the Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce for its leading work in business development in Central Texas since 1996. Two Community Leadership Circle Awards honored Tommy Hodinh and Dr. Foo Swasdee for their individual business accomplishments and community contributions. Hodinh is the chairman and CEO of MagRabbit, a company that has provided global software service, supply chain management, and work force solutions for over 20 years. Dr. Swasdee is a restaurateur who established Satay Restaurant and founded Asian Food Fest in Austin. The Legacy Award went to David Chiu, whose history in San Marcos includes business leadership since 1971 and tenure as mayor from 2000 to 2002. Congratulations to this year’s recipients!
